Building a Business in the Power Electronics Industry

SynQor, founded 21 years ago and privately held, manufactures all of its power converters in Massachusetts and sells them worldwide to the telecom, industrial, medical, transportation and military markets. This talk will discuss some of the lessons learned about getting a company like SynQor started and through its early years.

Dr. Martin F. Schlecht founded SynQor in 1998 and has served as its CEO ever since. Prior to founding SynQor, Dr. Schlecht was Professor of Electrical Engineering in the EECS department of MIT for over 15 years, with a research focus in power electronics. Dr. Schlecht holds SBEE, SBME, SMEE, EE and ScD degrees, all from MIT.
