Qing Zhao receives Jubilee Professorship at Chalmers University of Technology, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship
Professor Qing Zhao has been named a Jubilee Chair Professor of Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.
Professor Qing Zhao has been named a Jubilee Chair Professor of Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. The Jubilee Professorship at Chalmers was established in 1979 when Chalmers celebrated its 150 years. The purpose of the Jubilee Professorship is to enrich Chalmers’ research environment and to strengthen Chalmers’ international collaborations. Jubilee chairs are designated by the President of Chalmers University.
Zhao also received a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship under the Mobility for Regional Excellence 2020 Programme (MoRE2020) run by Region Västra Götaland and co-funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme. Her awarded project, "Active Learning for Event Detection in Large-Scale Information Networks," is a collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology, Ericsson AB and Volvo Car Corporation.
Zhao is a professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell, prior to joining the faculty at Cornell, she was a professor in the ECE Department at UC Davis.Her research interests include sequential decision theory, stochastic optimization, machine learning, and algorithmic theory with applications in infrastructure, communications, and social-economic networks.
Zhao is a Fellow of IEEE and received the 2010 IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award and the 2000 Young Author Best Paper Award from IEEE Signal Processing Society. While on the faculty of UC Davis, she held the title of UC Davis Chancellor’s Fellow and received the 2014 Outstanding Mid-Career Faculty Research Award and the 2008 Outstanding Junior Faculty Award from the UC Davis College of Engineering.
